Seminar and Zoom Webinar - Employees and Long Term Leave

Zoom Webinar commences 4.30pm

"Welcome Back:  Legal Rights and Obligations to be Considered when Employees are Taking and Returning from Parental and other Long-Term Leave."

There are various reasons why employees need to take extended leave from their employment.  Parental leave is perhaps the most obvious and the statutory provisions of Division 5 of the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth) prescribe a range of rights and obligations upon employees and employers alike.  Still, careful consideration of these rights and obligations is required in managing both the employee’s taking of leave and their return. Extended leave required as a result of long-term injury or illness, especially where that illness or injury is not work-related, can be even more difficult to manage and the rights and obligations of employees and employers in these circumstances are more difficult to ascertain.
In this seminar, Kaz Eaton will take attendees through the legal rights and obligations that need to be considered by all involved when an employee needs to take extended leave and as they seek to return.’

Kaz Eaton is a barrister at Flinders Chambers in Adelaide.  She welcomes briefs in employment and industrial, workers compensation, discrimination, criminal, child protection, administrative and human rights law.  Kaz in ranked by Doyle’s Guide as a leading employment and work health and safety law barrister, and is a member of the Complex Criminal Law Panel of the Legal Services Commission of South Australia.   She is a member of the Law Society of South Australia Professional Advice Service Panel and Young Lawyers Support Group.
